Educational Philosophy

Educational Philosophy:

Since it inception in 1957, FAID has demonstrated that regardless of how severe their hearing impairment, children can learn to speak and to understand the speech of others when early and appropriate education is provided.

Today, cochlear implants and powerful digital hearing aids, combined with educational techniques developed at FAID, are making it possible for more children to learn to listen, talk and achieve literacy so they can succeed in the mainstream.

We offer a language-rich, assessment-based educational program individualized to help every child achieve success.

Educational programs:

The educational programs are primarily set to fulfill the requirements of the Lebanese Ministry of Education. The school prepares its students for the Brevet and the Baccalaureate diplomas.

Classes are grouped on the basis of pupil's strengths, needs, abilities and comp ability.

Classes are small with qualified teachers of the deaf and educational assistants. Small group and one-to-one teaching is essential for the success of each child.
Each class is normally limited to 7 students (less in the Nursery Section) allowing more individual attention and participation. In this way, skills are strengthened and smaller classes allow for greater individual attention.

Specialist advisory staff works closely with the children and teachers to assist monitoring, ass's progress, and development of individual programs. The specialist educational staff include the speech and language therapist and an educational psychologist.

The audiologist monitors and encourages positive use of hearing aids, and our audio-technician ensures that hearing aids are properly maintained and repaired.
