Welcome
Welcome to the place where deaf education in the Middle East began more than 50 years ago! The Father Andeweg Institute for the Deaf was founded in 1957. Since that time, it has become a tradition in Lebanon, and a pioneer in the field of deaf education in the Middle East.
FAID is the 'mother' of St. Luke Center for mentally handicapped children in Lebanon, The Holy Land Institute for the Deaf in Salt, Jordan, the Deaf Unit in Cairo, Egypt and the School for children with Special Needs in Aita Chaab in South of Lebanon.
FAID has been investing in the lives of thousands of infants, toddlers, children, adults and seniors who are challenged by hearing loss for more than 50 years.
FAID is rich in tradition and has many stories to tell. The pages in this site provide a very brief glimpse into FAID's history; more information will be published in the near future.
We hope you enjoy exploring our site and learning more about the Institute.
If we can be of assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us!
